October 4th 2011 - Enduro Challenge Update

Enduro Challenge Just touching Ł8000 for GOSH and KidsCo , thank you so much to everyone who supported us in word, deed, donation, time and masses of moral support and kind words. It was so hugely appreciated.

Without doubt the challenge was one of the toughest, hardest things I’ve ever, ever done! Pushed many boundaries (mentally and physically) and I regularly went out of one comfort zone into another and then out of that too…..and so on and so forth!

The journey started in January this year when a casual conversation led to a full on challenge to ride over the Pyrenees on an off road motorbike for two charities close to our hearts, Great Ormond Street children's hospital and KidsCo.

The journey since then has involved somewhat intense training as I couldn't ride a motorbike let alone an offroad one! I've fallen off a bike more times than I can now remember, I met Marc Potter, editor of MCN, the team at TBM, Steve Parrish, BBC motoGP commentator, Si Pavey, 8 times Dakar winner (trained with him too) , Charley Boorman tweeted and FB’d and I had breakfast with Ross Noble, the comedian. It has been the most immense fun, hard work, laughter, tears of frustration and I've met the most wonderful new friends along the way.

The terrain was incredibly steep (ascents and descents), rocky, slippery, muddy, wet and so, so much tougher and more intense than anything I had tackled in training.

I wouldn't have missed it for the world, will I get on a motorbike again and do another trip? Yes... However I will check first that it's a bit flatter, a bit less rocky, a bit less slippery and a bit less muddy. Though as my mate rightly said, if that were the case it wouldn't have been a challenge now would it!

March 1st 2011 - Enduro Challenge in aid of GOSH and Kids Company

Enduro ChallengeCoaching intervention is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and taking on new challenges and making a difference, something Kate frequently tells her FTSE 100 clients.

But now, Kate is following her own advice by taking part in a daunting Enduro Challenge in aid of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Kids Company. Donna Gray, former British Ladies Enduro Champion will be training Kate for the challenge.

Along with her husband, Robin, and bike fanatic Gary Faillettaz, Kate will be climbing onto her GasGas 200EC off-road motorbike to begin training. Kate got her licence fourteen years ago and has not been on a motorbike since, let alone an off-road one!

Starting near Biarritz, the Enduro Challenge will take place at the beginning of September 2011, consisting of a three day, 30 hour trip across the Pyrenees. With breathtaking climbs and descents, and the complex technical nature of the terrain, the charity challenge is expected to be extremely gruelling.

“If someone had told me last year that I would be taking part in an off road motorbike endurance challenge across the rugged terrain of the Pyrenees I would have laughed,” said 41 year old, Kate Tojeiro. “And having an Enduro British champion of Donna Gray’s calibre to train me is just incredible, if not a little daunting!”

“I am terrified by the prospect, but at the same time very excited. As a coach to executives in some of the world’s largest companies, I regularly get feedback about the way I enable people to achieve more. Getting people out of their comfort zones to do something different that will ultimately help them achieve and succeed in whatever guise success means to them is what I do. By setting myself a similar goal I feel it will create greater empathy and understanding with my clients,” explains Kate.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) will always be important to Kate and her husband after their daughter, Tabby was admitted for a benign lipoma in 2005. “It’s a charity we’ve always wanted to support ever since,” says Kate. “I also greatly respect Kids Company, a charity that supports exceptionally traumatised and vulnerable young children ever since I heard David Gustave speak at a conference. We will divide all donations equally between the two charities.”

Arch to Arch ChallengeX fusion is proud to be sponsoring the FVS tri Arch to Arc Challenge, September 2008. As a performance coaching company that encourages and supports individuals and organisations to go beyond their comfortable boundaries to achieve extraordinary success and change, we are delighted to be a part of this awesome feat. And all alongside their respective ‘day jobs’!

The event will see them run 87 miles from Marble Arch in London to Dover; take part in a 21-mile relay swim across the Channel and cycle 200 miles from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Simon Patenall, Darren Woodhall, Richard Easterbrook, Dawn Green, Stephen Jones, and Tim Somers are likely to encounter extreme sea temperatures and sea sickness, not to mention negotiating with white van drivers and the somewhat erratic French (and English!) motorists on route.

The team expects the challenge to take them around 36 hours in aid of three charities - BIRD (Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Development), The Samaritans and Bowel Cancer UK.

We are delighted to be supporting this fabulous group of people and their chosen charities. Good luck guys! We’ll be thinking of you every step, stroke and cycle of the way!
